Description

Azatin O is a broad-spectrum insect repellent and insect growth regulator. It has an active ingredient that prevents future pest infestations by inhibiting the molting process in the larvae. When mixed with an adulticide, Azatin is effective at controlling both the mature and immature insects. It has a unique mode of action that brings pest infestations under control in a variety of settings.

How Azatin O Insecticide Works

Azatin O is considered to be an insect growth regulator because of its active ingredient azadirachtin. It doesn't kill adult insects. Instead, it repels them and deters them from feeding on the plants. It is, however, an insect growth regulator and disrupts the molting process of the young. It works at the larval and pupal stages, preventing the immature insects from growing into breeding adults. It stops infestations at the early stages and provides residual control for up to 10 days after application.

Where to Use Azatin O Insecticide

Azatin O can be used both indoors and outdoors to control insect populations. It protects fruit and vegetable crops, trees and ornamental flowers from the damage caused by aphids, nematodes and other sap-sucking pests. It can also be used on home lawns and recreational turfgrass to combat chinch bug damage. When combined with pesticides that contain pyrethroids, Azatin O becomes more effective and controls insect populations at all life stages. Some common areas for use include:

  • Golf courses
  • Bedding plants
  • Nut trees
  • Gardens
  • Shrubs

Target Pests

Azatin O biological insecticide targets a variety of pest insects on residential, commercial and recreational sites. It prevents aphid and whitefly infestations in greenhouses and keeps caterpillars and leafminers from destroying grass and shrubs. It's useful for controlling chinch bug populations, as well as cricket and armyworm infestations. Some other target pests include:

  • White grubs
  • Chafers
  • Weevils
  • Borers
  • Thrips

Advantages of Azatin O

Though it won't kill adult insects, it does control the larvae. It works at the moment of ingestion and contact, disrupting the molting process and preventing the insects from growing into breeding adults. It's the ideal insecticide to use in tandem with other pesticides in an integrated pest management program. It works indoors and outdoors and stops future infestations by targeting the young. Other advantages include:

  • Protects horticulture crops from insect damage
  • Can be used on recreational sites like golf courses
  • Starts to work immediately to control immature pests
  • Applied most commonly as a soil drench or a foliar spray
  • Works as a deterrent and an antifeedant

Azatin O Repels and Prevents Pest Infestations

Azatin O works well on its own to control insect populations by targeting the pests at the larval and pupal stages. For maximum pest control, combine this biological insecticide with a pyrethroid-based pesticide to combat both the larvae and the adults. Azatin is safe to use around people and pets when applied as directed and continues to provide residual pest control for 10 days depending on the severity of the infestation.
